DHF training officer Nick Perkins |
The UK’s foremost authority on powered gate safety, Nick Perkins, will be giving vital safety advice to gate installers and maintainers at IFSEC International, Europe’s largest security trade event.
Nick is the training officer for the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF), the industry group which represents the leading manufacturers, suppliers, installers and maintainers of powered automatic gates and gate automation equipment.
He will be giving his presentation on Wednesday, June 22 in IFSEC’s new physical and perimeter protection area.
He will give a stark warning to powered gate barrier installers and maintainers: if a gate is found to be unsafe after installation or maintenance work has been carried out, you could find yourselves in court.
“Many installers and maintenance providers have been prosecuted in recent years following incidents and fatalities caused by powered gates they either installed or were maintaining,” Nick will say in his presentation.
“Prosecutions have happened because the machine was not safe, or the person carrying out the work did not ensure it was safe - or, more commonly, did not fully understand what ‘safe’ actually is.”
The DHF is hosting a meet and greet lounge area on stand C1810 throughout the three days of IFSEC. In addition a number of DHF member companies are exhibiting in the DHF pavilion within IFSEC’s physical and perimeter protection area.
The DHF is the UK’s leading authority on powered gate safety. Training is compulsory for member companies’ personnel. Members comply with a rigorous and binding code of conduct and comply with, or exceed, all current safety standards.
